SHAH ALAM, Aug 24 — State executive councillor for women’s development Anfaal Saari has called upon women Islamic preachers to be more active in spreading goodness so as to build a more harmonious society.
She described the faith as rahmatan lil ‘alamin (a mercy to all worlds), which enables individuals to move away from division, hatred, and slander.
“I have always believed that female preachers hold a very special place in society because they are naturally seen as gentle, polite, peacemaking, and compassionate. We must seize this opportunity to convey messages of peace and compassion to society.
“May the Selangor Female Daie Convention (Damai) 2024 serve as a platform for female preachers, in particular, to participate in providing solutions to the problems of the ummah, in line with the Selangor Women’s Empowerment Policy 2024-2026,” Anfaal said.
She was speaking at the officiation of the Damai 2024 Convention, jointly organised by Wanita Berdaya Selangor (WBS) and Yayasan Sofia, which brought together over 50 female da’wah activists.
Meanwhile, WBS director Rawiyiah Zakaria said the convention is an important platform for strengthening the role of women in da’wah and building a more harmonious society.
WBS, in collaboration with various institutions, has implemented programmes that have positively impacted women, including educational programmes, skills training, and social support.
“There are 56 Wanita Berdaya Centres (PWB) in every state constituency of Selangor, which empower and encourage grassroots women to actively engage in social work, as well as carry out entrepreneurial and creative economic activities that can generate income.
“From 2021 until May this year, 2,712 programmes have been successfully implemented, benefiting 92,919 women throughout the state,” she said.
During the event, Anfaal also presented the 2024 Selangor Female Daie Icon Award to nine women in recognition of their achievements in their respective fields.
